Our church, Highland Park Baptist Church, hosted a Drive Thru the Living Bible event about a year and a half ago. It was a wonderful event and well received so we planned to host the event again, this time I would be the coordinator. I was so excited as this gave me a great way to serve the Lord and to get to be creative both at the the same time! We ended up moving the event from the very busy fall to around Easter this year. I guess you can see where I'm going with this. Due to the uncertainty and time that goes into an event like this we have had to make the hard choice to postpone the event. I won't say cancel. It got me down but then I thought no! I won't let this virus ruin this opportunity to spread the word about Jesus so I started thinking about what we could do and I thought to myself a virtual drive thru experience is better than no experience at all. So I got to editing a few of the pictures I took at the last event and here we are. Thank you Jim Tipton for working on our brochure and collecting the verses for each scene. I hope you enjoy our virtual tour of the Bible!
Scene 1 Adam and Eve
Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Scene 2 Noah and the Ark
Genesis 6:14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
Scene 3 Moses and the Ten Commandments
Exodus 32:19 And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.
Scene 4 David and Goliath
1 Samuel 17:37 David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.
Scene 5 Jesus is Born!
Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
Scene 6 Jesus Teaches in the Temple
Mark 1:21-22 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
Scene 7 Peter Comes to Jesus in the Storm
Matthew 14:27-31 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
Scene 8 Jesus asks for the Children
And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
Scene 9 Jesus and the Cross
Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
Scene 10 The Tomb is Empty
And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulcher. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
Scene 11 Jesus Ascends into Heaven
And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
